The MT400 can be divided into three main sections: the mixer section (8 inputs/1 stereo output) for mixing sound, the recorder section (4 tracks, 4 channels) for recording and playing back sound, and other functions such as meter and power switch. Recorder section – Equipped with a dbx noise reduction system and an 80dB signal-to-noise ratio. Punch in/out via footswitch or switch operation. The SNYC OUT jack provides direct output of the synchronization track (track 4) signal for synchronized operation of the unit and the MIDI sequencer. The SYNC mode, which turns off the dbx on the synchronization track only, enables stable, synchronized operation. The tape speed can be switched between 9.5 cm/s and 4.8 cm/s. The 9.5 cm/s speed is selectable in two stages. The 9.5cm/second speed is the standard speed of the MT400 for higher quality recordings, while the 4.8cm/second speed is the same as that of an ordinary cassette recorder and doubles the recording time compared to the standard speed.
